Timeline Homework Project

Being the control freak that I am, occasionally my kids come home with homework assignments that I can't bare to not art direct (and by art direct, I really mean concept, design and lead in execution). That said, this was one of my favorites.

A second grade tradition at my children's school is to create a timeline of their history, showing photos of major events. I am not much of a scrapbooker, but I do try to keep up with taking photos and maintaining a family photo album. I just recently made the leap to a digital camera so I just couldn't let the kids cut up the pictures and ended up scanning things in and doing the layout on the computer instead.

Alex and Anna had fun combing through the photos and selecting the events to highlight. They particularly liked the early years that they had no memories of and it was a great chance to share my memories of their infancy with them. It was a lot of extra work to build that I squeezed in on lunch breaks and stayed late to finish, but I couldn't be happier with this treasure.

Unfortunately, Alex's was a victim of a computer crash and his file was lost, but here is Anna's.

This is really cool! Good job! What program did you use to create this?

Hi Adrienne, so sorry for the delay. Somehow I missed your comment. I am a Graphic Designer by day so I used Illustrator for this one.
