Let Them Make Cake
I have been wanting to do a post on this topic since this spring but timing and obtaining photos have forced me to postpone it until now. I have mentioned Fantasy In Frosting in some of my previous posts. For those of you not familiar with it, it is this fabulous cake/candy supply store/bakery in Newport, Kentucky.
I remember going there with my mom as a child and couldn't wait until I was old enough to play in the kitchen. My mom made all our birthday cakes, Easter candy, Christmas goodies, you name it. She made it look easy. I remember begging to help, but routinely heard, "it's harder than it looks."
Now that it is my kitchen, my time and my "To Do List", I completely understand where my mom was coming from. As much as I love my children, often times it is so much easier to do it myself: no mess, no surprises, no delays.
I can't even begin to tell you how elated I was to discover that Fantasy In Frosting not only teaches adult classes for decorating and candy making, but they do kid classes too! Anna has been to 3 or 4 of these classes now and loves them. I only wish they did them more often.
The classes range in topics from cookies to candy, cupcakes, cake pops, holiday treats and more. For $15-25 your child will make all kinds of goodies and experiment with various decorating tools and techniques. Classes are typically Saturdays and last about an hour to an hour and a half. Can you imagine dying all that icing, or washing all those tips? |
Per my usual disclaimer, I am in no way being paid or compensated in any way for my endorsement. This is simply one family's opinion and I am sure if you have a little baker in your house, they will think they found a little slice of heaven.
