Let Them Make Cake

I have been wanting to do a post on this topic since this spring but timing and obtaining photos have forced me to postpone it until now. I have mentioned Fantasy In Frosting in some of my previous posts. For those of you not familiar with it, it is this fabulous cake/candy supply store/bakery in Newport, Kentucky.

I remember going there with my mom as a child and couldn't wait until I was old enough to play in the kitchen. My mom made all our birthday cakes, Easter candy, Christmas goodies, you name it. She made it look easy. I remember begging to help, but routinely heard, "it's harder than it looks."

Now that it is my kitchen, my time and my "To Do List", I completely understand where my mom was coming from. As much as I love my children, often times it is so much easier to do it myself: no mess, no surprises, no delays.

I can't even begin to tell you how elated I was to discover that Fantasy In Frosting not only teaches adult classes for decorating and candy making, but they do kid classes too! Anna has been to 3 or 4 of these classes now and loves them. I only wish they did them more often.

The classes range in topics from cookies to candy, cupcakes, cake pops, holiday treats and more. For $15-25 your child will make all kinds of goodies and experiment with various decorating tools and techniques. Classes are typically Saturdays and last about an hour to an hour and a half. Click here for a full list of available dates.

Can you imagine dying all that icing, or washing all those tips?
The absolute best part of these classes are you don't have to lift a finger. Everything is pre-made for you and the mess stays right in the store. Simply put your child's master pieces in a box and out the door you go. No dishes, no sprinkles to vacuum, no tables to wipe. Your child gets to try several different treats and you aren't left with dozens of leftovers lingering in your house.

Per my usual disclaimer, I am in no way being paid or compensated in any way for my endorsement. This is simply one family's opinion and I am sure if you have a little baker in your house, they will think they found a little slice of heaven.
